Press Release 23-05-2002Oppose War MongeringThe India chapter of PIPFPD strongly deplores the Indian Government's expulsion of the Pakistani Ambassador and further delinking in terms of diplomatic relations with Pakistan. As an obvious outcome, all available links between the people of India and Pakistan are going to be negatively affected. Both the countries have amassed more than a million troops on their border, and danger of outbreak of hostilities between two nuclear powers is real. It is imperative that the feverish hostility be cooled immediately, and that the eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation be defused. India must forthwith reverse the harsh diplomatic measures imposed on Pakistan. Pakistan must reciprocate. The cruel killings of innocent citizens allegedly by militant groups in the Jammu region of J&K is also deplorable. We oppose targeting and victimising civilians in an armed conflict to which they are not even a party. While condemning these killings, we also express our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the dead and the injured. The need of the hour is to immediately resume talks on all outstanding issues between the two countries and an end to the cycle of violence targeting civilians in Jammu & Kashmir. We call upon all Indian citizen to raise their voice against danger of war between India and Pakistan.
Press Release 23-05-2002 We strongly condemn the dastardly murder of senior APHC leader Shri. Abdul Ghani Lone. He was shot dead while attending a Maulana Farooq commemoration rally and public meeting at the Martyr's Graveyard near the Idgah locality in Srinagar. The Pakistan India Peoples' Forum pays hearty tributes to this courageous statesman, who held the dream of a peaceful and autonomous Kashmir, close to his heart. In this moment, while saluting this great human, we also reaffirm our commitment to the cause, he lived and died for. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to the near and dear ones of Mr. Lone.
