Akshay refuses to mouth anti-Pakistan remarks

(As reported by Hindustan Times and Jang News)

Akshay Kumar has refused to make abusive remarks against Pakistan in "Ab Tumhare Hawaale Watan Saathiyon". "I won't mouth a single line against Pakistan", Kumar is quoted as having told director Anil Sharma of the film. "I told Sharma to clean out the anti-Pakistani dialogues or else I'd quit." Kumar is planning to insert a specific clause into his contract to this effect.

Akshay Kumar's logic is simple: "Terrorists must not be equated with civilians. Let's all condemn terrorism. But please, let's not look at all Pakistanis with hostility, suspicion and hatred... We have many fans from across the border. We cannot disregard their feelings just for a few cheap thrills on screen ... I don't think being a patriotic Indian means we should abuse another nation." He is explicit about the Noor factor: "When we're trying to build bridges, when bus services have been resumed and Noor's heart was mended by Indian doctors, why can't we speak a language of love in our movies?"
